HSC Calculators to Be Banned?

There has been a ban the most commonly used calculators by students for their HSC exams. Two of the newest models of Casio calculators will be removed from the list of approved calculators from next year by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

The changes and integration of the new HSC syllabus, specifically the requirements for mathematics advanced and mathematics extension has impacted on the change of the list of the approved calculators that are used in HSC examinations.

The most commonly used calculators that are being removed includes the models of the Casio fx-100AU and Casio fx-100AU plus models to ensure students are able to do calculations manually. Although, there are a number of high schools that has recommended this calculator to students currently, including Knox Grammar, Presbyterian Ladies’ College and International Grammar School.
