UNSW May Lower Its HSC Entry Standards

June 27, 2019
  • The University of New South Wales (UNSW) last week have expressed its possibility to lower its entry standards for year 12 students.

UNSW has already done this for their Engineering courses. Although the published rank is 93.00 for most courses, the university accepts students with ATARs as low as 83.00 provided with a personal statement including a video showing why they are suitable as well as their YR 12 academic report.
  • The University is also considering to wave application fees for international students and launch more international scholarships. This is due to the downfall in the number of enrolments as compared to other Sydney universities.

There has been a significant number of local students who have dropped out and as part of the solution, the University is also seeking to review subject prerequisites requirements.
